Jennifer Greene, MPH

Jennifer Greene serves as Health Director and CEO of AppHealthCare, a district public health department and federally qualified health center serving Alleghany, Ashe, and Watauga Counties.

Greene joined the agency in 2004 and held multiple roles prior to becoming Health Director in 2017.  In her tenure, she has led initiatives designed to create more opportunities for healthy living including access to healthy food, expansion of primary care, and leading public health response to natural disasters, disease outbreaks, and emergencies.

She has received multiple awards in her tenure, including the Rankin Award for contributions to public health by the NC Public Health Association and the Kathy Crutchfield Citizen of the Year Award by the Boone Area Chamber of Commerce.

Greene received her undergraduate degree in Health Promotion from Appalachian State University and Masters in Public Health degree from Des Moines University’s Osteopathic Medical School. She is currently pursuing a DrPH degree from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Gillings School of Global Public Health. She currently resides in Boone, NC with her family and enjoys cooking, spending time outdoors, and playing with their dogs Leo and Benny.
