TFAH Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Statement
Trust for America’s Health’s (TFAH) focuses on promoting optimal health for every
person and community and making the prevention of illness and injury a national
priority. This requires a keen focus on equity, diversity, and inclusion in our public
health system and within our organization. Our work calls us to transform systems
and institutions by removing the historical and ongoing societal barriers to optimal
health. Achieving our mission means we must acknowledge the value and humanity
of all people and design our systems in ways that reflect and respect all of
humanity.
At TFAH, we understand that our external work to promote systems changes that
advance equity in the public health system starts internally with our commitment to
equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI). Through our EDI initiatives, we aim to be an
organization that respects and makes space for the multi-faceted identities of our
current and potential staff, board members, and partners. We strive to learn with
and from others as we work to address structural discrimination in society and
promote equity in public health. As an organization, we will continuously evaluate,
understand, and implement initiatives that reinforces inclusion and belonging in the
operations, functions, and governance of the organization. TFAH advocates for a
nation that reflects our vision for a more just, healthy, and thriving society, and we
intend to lead the way toward that vision through our own internal EDI journey. This
statement is a declaration of our commitment and an invitation to join us on this
journey of continuous self-reflection, learning, and doing.
