TFAH Makes Available Ads on the New Health Care, Healthier Choices and a Healthier America
Washington, D.C., March 7, 2011 – Trust for America’s Health (TFAH) announces a “The New Health Care, Healthier Choices, Healthier America” advertising campaign featuring three ads that focus on prevention and new opportunities to improve the health of Americans because of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) .
The first ad, “Last Year, Jeffrey Had to Skip His Flu Shot,” available at Flu Shot.org, features the importance of flu shots and, more broadly, prevention. The ad reads: “Last year, Jeffrey had to skip his flu shot. This time he’s guaranteed a free shot thanks to health reform. Little Jeffrey may have been happy to miss his shot last year, but his parents weren’t. Times were tight and they decided to skip the flu shot and risk it to help make ends meet. Now, the Affordable Care Act, the health reform Congress passed this year, will guarantee that every American can get important preventive services like a flu shot – for free. Sorry Jeffrey, looks like you’re going to get a flu shot every year from now on.”
The second ad, “Who Wins the Race?” available at Who Wins the Race?.org, features how Affordable Care Act recognizes the link between living healthier and keeping people out of the doctor’s office. The ad reads: “When Congress passed the Affordable Care Act – or health reform – earlier this year, it didn’t solve all our health care problems, but it did recognize the link between living healthier and keeping people out of the doctor’s office. Through health reform, thousands of cities and towns like ours will get funding to fund programs proven to be effective in encouraging physical activity in their communities.
The third ad, “Healthier Choices, Healthier Lives” available at Healthier Choices Healthier Lives.org, shows how the Affordable Care Act helps people make healthier choices by providing greater access to nutritious foods, like fresh fruits and vegetables, and free places to exercise. The ad reads: “You may be surprised to learn that the health reform Congress passed this year will help people make healthier choices by providing greater access to farm-fresh fruits and vegetables and helping people quit smoking. It’s part of a plan to help all of us make healthier choices by giving us greater information about the food we eat and what it takes to have a healthy diet, and expanding access to free places to exercise.”
