State Cancer Registry Gets a 'B,' Advice

WASHINGTON -- Florida tracks cancer better than most states, but health officials need more resources to enable the information to help prevention efforts and identify at-risk populations, a public health advocacy group reported Monday.
Florida's Cancer Data System, which collects data on reported cases of cancer, was one of 16 state systems to receive a "B" grade in the report by Trust for America's Health
, a nonprofit organization. The report collected data on cancer tracking from 35 states, finding that states are missing opportunities to reduce cancer rates.
