Ebola outbreak exposed major weaknesses in US health system, report finds

Despite more than a decade of preparedness following the Sept. 11, 2011 terrorist attacks and anthrax incidents, "there have been troubling errors, lapses and scrambles to recreate practices and policies that were supposed to have been long considered and well established," said the Trust for America's Health report (pdf) that was released in December.

The report, which was issued in conjunction with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, examined U.S. policies regarding response to ongoing and emerging infectious disease threats.
