Pharmacy techs are a part of Oklahoma's prescription drug epidemic

A study released by Trust for America’s Health showed that in 2010, Oklahoma had the nation’s fifth-highest overdose death rate and that about 75 percent of all overdose deaths involve some kind of prescription drug.

Hydrocodone, present in 182 of the 821 overdose deaths in 2013, is the deadliest drug in Oklahoma, according to information compiled by the state Medical Examiner. It’s also the most common drug pharmacy technicians were accused of stealing, board records show.
