Doctor gives the skinny on risks of being fat

Dr. Phillip Wood, a researcher at the Burnham Institute for Medical Research at Lake Nona who specializes in obesity, has set out to spread the message about the dangers of being overweight.

Nearly 35 percent of U.S. adults aged 20 and older were obese in 2006, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Florida is been creeping up on the nation's annual list of fat rankings. According to a 2007 report from Trust for America's Health, Florida ranked 34th in 2006 for its adult-obesity rate of 22.9 percent - up significantly from previous years.
