Editorial: Public health costs of obesity justify strong action by California

The Trust for America study estimates that 22.7 percent of California adults are obese, ranking the state 16th in the nation. And 13.2 percent of the state's children ages 10-17 are considered obese. Only 75 percent of 10- to 17-year-olds are participating in physical activity for 20 minutes a day, three times a week. California can do better. The approach the state is taking with its children points in the right direction.
